Abstract

The streaming platform Spotify is the largest music platform globally by number of subscribers. The platform has developed its own ecosystem related to listening to music, and has significantly influenced the paradigm shift in the distribution and monetization of music industry services. The aim of this paper is to investigate and analyse the platform's overall business performance over the past seven years. The research focuses on analysing the platform's overall business performance using selected financial parameters. In addition, the research includes an analysis of the trend in the number of users as well as an analysis of the trend in share prices over the selected time period. The research results have proven that the platform is emerging from the negative profit zone and the number of users is continuously growing. Over the past seven years, the corporation's share price has fluctuated, only to grow continuously over the past two years. The research and analysis results demonstrate the gradual recovery of the platform's business and the entry into a financially stable future period.
