Author Guidelines

Pomorstvo – Scientific Journal of Maritime Research welcomes original research articles, preliminary communications, and review articles within its Aims and Scope. The journal is diamond open access: there are no submission or publication fees, and all published articles are free to read.

Article types

• Original research articles present a substantive and clearly explained contribution based on original research.

• Preliminary communications report original findings of timely interest that are sufficiently developed and documented to undergo peer review.

• Review articles provide a critical synthesis of existing research and identify new insights, research directions, or unresolved questions.

Preparing your manuscript

Authors are encouraged to use the journal’s Word manuscript template. The manuscript must follow the instructions in the template for its structure, figures, tables, and references. Please submit an editable manuscript file.

Provide accurate author details, including each author’s institutional affiliation, city and country. Include ORCID iDs where available and identify the corresponding author.

The manuscript must contain the following statements:

• Author contributions: Specify each author’s contribution.

• Data availability: State where the data supporting the findings can be accessed, whether they may be available on reasonable request, or that no new data were created.

• Ethics: State whether ethical approval was required. Where applicable, provide approval and consent details; otherwise, state that approval was not required.

• Conflicts of interest: Disclose relevant competing interests or state that there are none.

• Funding: Identify funding sources, where applicable.

If generative AI tools were used in writing the manuscript, producing images or graphical elements, or collecting or analysing data, identify the tools and explain their use in the Methods and/or Acknowledgements section. AI tools cannot be listed as authors, and the authors remain responsible for the entire manuscript. Further details are available in the journal’s Policies and Open Access.

Originality and prior dissemination

The manuscript must not be under consideration by another journal. Authors must disclose any earlier preprint, thesis, conference publication, or other public version of the work or substantial parts of it. Please provide a link or full reference and explain the relationship to the submitted manuscript where relevant. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reuse any third-party material included in the submission.

Submission and editorial process

Submit the manuscript through this page using the Login or Register links above. Include a cover letter briefly explaining the study’s contribution and its relevance to Pomorstvo. The corresponding author must confirm that all authors have approved the submission.

All submissions undergo an initial technical and editorial assessment. Manuscripts are screened using iThenticate before peer review; similarity reports are evaluated by the editors in context and do not automatically determine the editorial decision. Manuscripts selected for external evaluation undergo single-blind peer review by at least two independent reviewers. The Editor-in-Chief may decline a manuscript before external review if it is unsuitable for the journal. See Peer Review and Editorial Process for further details.
