The analysis of liner maritime passenger transport provides a basis for recommendations for the further development and improvement of liner maritime passenger transport in the Republic of Croatia. The purpose of this research is to analyze the structure, intensity, and spatial distribution of liner maritime passenger transport; analyze key challenges and provide future perspectives; and contextualize Croatia’s position within the broader European maritime transport system, including a comparative perspective with the Mediterranean countries Italy and Greece. The research is based on an analysis of relevant statistical indicators for 2024 and 2025, and the legal and strategic framework. The research findings indicate a substantial spatial concentration of passenger flows and regional disparities in liner maritime passenger transport in the Republic of Croatia, while the available data also indicate differences in passenger volumes between the observed periods. The results highlight the need for an improved liner network adapted to users, stronger implementation of sustainable transport solutions, fleet modernization, and infrastructure investment. This paper contributes to the literature by presenting the current state of liner maritime passenger transport, positioning it within a Mediterranean comparative context, and providing recommendations to improve and ensure the long-term development of liner maritime passenger transport in the Republic of Croatia.
