In this study, an optimised multicomponent demulsifier complex based on the active components DR-1502, Alkan-415 and BAF-1, formulated in an n-butanol–ethylbenzene solvent system, was developed for the efficient destabilisation of water–oil emulsions originating from the Balakhani oil field. The optimisation of the multicomponent demulsifier was based on a set of performance criteria, including maximum demulsification efficiency, accelerated water separation kinetics, reduced emulsion stability (Turbiscan Stability Index and backscattering intensity), decreased asphaltene flocculation parameter, increased absolute zeta potential and improved rheological behaviour, together with the achievement of a maximum synergistic interaction between components at an optimal mass ratio. The proposed formulation, conventionally designated as Zaino-25, exhibited a pronounced synergistic interaction among its constituent components, resulting in enhanced demulsification performance. The efficiency of Zaino-25 was systematically evaluated in terms of emulsion stability reduction, acceleration of water separation kinetics and improvement of rheological properties under varying temperature conditions, water cut levels and reagent concentrations. A comprehensive assessment was conducted using asphaltene flocculation behaviour, zeta potential measurements and stability indices obtained by the Turbiscan® technique. The results demonstrate that the synergistic action of the active components, combined with optimised solvent ratios, effectively disrupts the interfacial film and internal structure of water–oil emulsions, thereby significantly accelerating the demulsification process. The developed demulsifier system represents a promising and practically applicable solution for improving the treatment, transportation and processing efficiency of heavy and structurally complex crude oils.
