About the Journal
International Journal for Engineering Modelling (IJEM) was founded in 1988 (published initially under the Yugoslav Journal for Engineering Modelling). At the initiative of the late Professor Frane Damjanić, the journal was launched by Professor Ante Mihanović (editor-in-chief ) and Professor Pavao Marović (executive editor), with significant support from Roger J. Owen as a member of the editorial board, thanks to whom the journal was immediately recognized in the world, especially in the field of computer mechanics and numerical methods.
Since 1992, it has changed its name to International Journal for Engineering Modelling. The journal publishes papers in English. Since its inception, it has been published in printed form, and for the last 20 years, also in the online edition. Publishers have also changed over the years. In the first years, it was the Institute of Civil Engineering Zagreb, Faculty of Civil Engineering Split, and in 1992, it was joined by the Faculty of Civil Engineering Zagreb. Since 2016, the publishers have been the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture and the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Geodesy, University of Split.
Aims & Scope
This multidisciplinary open-access journal aims at promoting new numerical and analytical approaches in engineering and science by emphasising their application and reliability in solving practical problems. The key publication criteria are the originality of the submitted papers, the potential usefulness of the research, and the application of the presented methods to new areas in engineering. Proposals for new or analysis of existing analytical and numerical methods, their confirmation and application, comparisons with experimental data, development of new constitutive models, analysis and monitoring of actual structures, and application of various techniques in development and modelling of practical engineering problems are deemed appropriate for publication. Besides regular papers, the journal also aims to publish state-of-the-art papers, professional papers, and other valuable information in the form of preliminary communications that cover the subject of engineering modelling. The manuscripts must be written in English and are single-blind peer reviewed.
Furthermore, one of the main aims of the journal is to provide efficient communication not only to academics, but also to industrial researchers, engineers, and professionals dealing with both numerical and analytical methods in various fields of engineering and science.
