Abstract

This work presents performance modelling and analysis of the Veneer Layup System for a plywood manufacturing plant using the Petri Nets framework. The Petri Nets–based simulation modelling helps to evaluate the availability of the sub-system over a long period by running the plant in a virtual manner. The main factor that makes it more effective among various popular simulation methods is the ability to deal with real working conditions. The results obtained through the analysis can be utilized to identify these sub-systems that highly affect the system performance. Separate maintenance planning for each sub-system can reduce the production loss due to the unavailability of any sub-system for performing its intended task.
