History of the Journal

Vrhbosnensia has a long tradition as a theological journal in the region. Since its founding in 1997, the journal has been dedicated to promoting scientific research and dialogue within the academic community, contributing to the understanding of religious and social issues.

Focus and Scope

The journal Vrhbosnensia is a scientific publication of the Catholic Faculty of Theology at the University of Sarajevo, dedicated to publishing academic research in the fields of theology, philosophy, religious studies, Church history, and related disciplines. The goal of the journal is to promote interdisciplinary dialogue and provide a platform for academic discussion on topics relevant to Catholic theology and broader society. Original scientific articles, review articles, book reviews, and commentaries are accepted.

The journal is indexed in the EBSCO database, on Hrčak – the portal for scientific journals of the Republic of Croatia – and in Religious & Theological Abstracts.

Open Access Policy

Vrhbosnensia applies an open access policy, allowing immediate and free access to all published content. In this way, we support the global exchange of knowledge, making research accessible to a broad audience, including researchers, students, professionals, and interested readers. Authors retain copyright of their works and publish them under licenses that allow free sharing and use with proper attribution of sources.

Peer Review Process

All papers are subject to a double-blind peer review process to ensure objectivity and quality in published articles. Reviewers are experts in relevant fields, and the review process includes at least two independent review reports. The editorial board ensures that reviewers have no conflicts of interest with authors.

Publication and Sponsorship

The journal is published by the Catholic Faculty of Theology at the University of Sarajevo. The publication is funded through institutional support from the Faculty as well as potential donations or sponsorships clearly indicated in each issue of the journal.

Privacy Statement

The journal respects the privacy of authors, reviewers, and readers. Collected data is used exclusively for editorial purposes and will not be shared with third parties without explicit consent. Users have the right to access their data and request its deletion upon request.
