New Issue of the Journal Vrhbosnensia Vol. 28 No. 2, 2024

2025-05-15

As before, Vrhbosnensia remains committed to promoting theological thought, philosophical reflection, and interdisciplinary dialogue.

In this issue, we present a variety of articles covering a wide range of topics. We particularly highlight the work of Mirjana Pinezić, who analyzes human freedom and responsibility towards oneself, others, God, and the created world through the writings of Edith Stein. This work opens profound philosophical-theological insights into the interconnectedness of freedom, grace, and human responsibility, which is of crucial importance for understanding the Christian life.

Dalibor Milas provides an overview of the role of the Catholic School Center "St. Joseph" in Sarajevo as a model of education that transcends ethnic divisions and promotes social cohesion. His analysis demonstrates how educational institutions can become key actors in building peace and coexistence in multicultural societies.

Stanislav Šota and Igor Jakobfi explore the perception of values among engaged couples in smaller towns and villages of the Archdiocese of Đakovo-Osijek. Their results offer interesting insights into changing attitudes of young people towards marriage and family, and point to the challenges of individualism and materialism shaping contemporary relationships.

We especially recommend the article in English by Marius De Byl and Marko Grčević, which addresses the future of religious education in pluralistic societies such as Croatia and Germany. The authors explore how theological reflection can remain relevant in the context of increasing demands for an inclusive and dialogical approach to religious education.

In addition to scientific articles, this issue brings valuable reviews of new theological publications. Professor emeritus Dr. Mato Zovkić has prepared two reviews, while the other two are by Dr. Ivana Macut. The reviews provide an additional dimension to academic dialogue and offer readers guidelines for further research.

The editorial board proudly announces the transition to a new system for submitting and processing scientific papers-the Open Journal System (OJS)-which should significantly improve the transparency and efficiency of the publication process. Details about the new system will be presented in the next issue of the journal.

We invite all interested authors to submit their scientific articles, reviews, and presentations of philosophical-theological literature to the new editorial email address: vrhbosnensia@gmail.com. Your contributions are essential for the further development of the journal and for enriching theological thought in the Croatian-speaking area.

Finally, we wish to thank all authors for their effort, cooperation, and patience during the preparation of this issue. We also thank everyone who helped bring this issue to light. May the works we publish inspire us towards personal theological growth and deeper reflection on the theological and social challenges of our time.
