Abstract

This study enhances and optimizes existing gravity, magnetic, magnetotelluric (MT), and seismic datasets to improve the preliminary subsurface interpretation of the under‑explored area west of the Randegan Field, located within the onshore part of the northwest Java Basin, Indonesia. The residual gravity anomaly and reduced to pole (RTP) magnetic anomaly, supported by results from 3D joint gravity and magnetic inversion, identify several dextral strike‑slip faults, the main one of which can be associated with the Pamanukan-Cilacap Fault Zone (PCFZ). This tectonic framework governs local extensional deformation and the development of pull‑apart or graben structures, which are commonly filled with younger sediments, such as those deposited pre-Late Miocene. The gravity and magnetic data also support the presence of magmatic bodies around these extensional zones, including Ciremai Volcano and older volcanic centers. The results are consistent with magnetotelluric and seismic interpretations. Additionally, the 2D resistivity model indicates potential carbonate reef buildups, which are also supported laterally by residual gravity anomalies, particularly in the northern area. The study confirms the volcanic nature of the southern boundary of the onshore northwest Java Basin, emphasizing the need to assess sub‑volcanic petroleum systems. In the latter, an integrated interpretation that employs gravity, magnetic, magnetotelluric, and seismic data is effective in refining the regional geological model, yielding more coherent results than a single‑method approach.
