Abstract

Abstract
The paper explores the frequency of using digital textbooks for the Croatian language course in primary education. The aim of the research was to determine whether teachers’ years of service, promotion to higher ranks and the assessment of personal digital competencies influenced the use of digital textbooks. Differences in the frequency of use were also examined with regard to the digital textbook platform and the grade in which teachers teach, and teachers' opinions on the advantages and disadvantages of their application were analysed. The results show that digital competencies are the only significant predictor of the frequency of using digital textbooks, while years of service and promotion to higher ranks were not significant. Differences in the frequency of use were identified with regard to the platform on which the digital textbooks were designed. No correlation has been established between the frequency of use and the grade in which teachers teach. Teachers emphasize interest, accessibility, unification of content and positive influence on students' motivation as the most important advantages. The most frequently highlighted shortcomings relate to insufficient technical equipment of schools. In conclusion, the results indicate that the digital textbook is an important methodological factor in the digital transformation of the education system.

Ključne riječi: digitalne kompetencije; Hrvatski jezik; prednosti i nedostatci digitalnih udžbenika; primarno obrazovanje
