ABOUT THE JOURNAL

The Croatian Journal of Anesthesiology and Intensive Medicine (CJAIM) is a peer-reviewed, open-access medical journal publishing original research, reviews, and case reports in anaesthesiology, intensive care medicine, perioperative medicine, and pain management. The journal serves clinicians, researchers, and trainees in Central and Southeastern Europe, providing a platform for disseminating high-quality clinical and translational research.

FOCUS AND SCOPE

CJAIM publishes original research articles, review articles, case reports, editorials, and letters to the editor in the following areas:
• Anaesthesiology
• Intensive Care Medicine
• Perioperative Medicine
• Pain Medicine (Acute & Chronic)
• Regional Anaesthesia
• Critical Medicine
• Cardiac Anaesthesia
• Neuroanaesthesia
• Paediatric Anaesthesia

OPEN ACCESS POLICY

CJAIM is a fully open-access journal. All articles are freely available online immediately upon publication, allowing users to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of articles without charge to the user or institution.

There are no article processing charges (APCs) or submission fees.

Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0), which allows others to distribute, remix, adapt, and build upon the material in any medium or format, as long as attribution is given to the creator. Authors retain copyright of their work.

PEER REVIEW PROCESS

The journal employs a double-blind peer review process. All manuscripts are reviewed by at least two independent reviewers who are experts in the relevant field. Reviewers are expected to complete their reviews within 3-4 weeks.

PUBLICATION ETHICS

CJAIM is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and adheres to the guidelines set forth by:
• COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics)
• ICMJE (International Committee of Medical Journal Editors)
• WAME (World Association of Medical Editors)

The journal uses plagiarism detection software to screen all submissions. Authors must disclose any conflicts of interest and provide ethics approval for human research.

CJAIM was founded in 2025 as the official scientific publication in the field of anaesthesiology and intensive medicine in Croatia.
