OJS user guides

CJAIM uses Open Journal Systems (OJS 3.4) for submissions and peer review. These guides explain each step for your role:

Before submitting, please also read the author guidelines and submission checklist. Questions: see Contact.

OJS user guide for authors

Where: ojs.srce.hr/cjaim → Register (once) → Make a Submission. Read About → Submissions (author guidelines and checklist) first.

Submitting: the 3.4 wizard

  1. Before you begin: choose the section, tick every item on the submission checklist, accept the privacy and copyright statements.
  2. Details: title (italic, superscript and subscript work in titles), abstract, keywords, references.
  3. Upload files: drag in your manuscript and label it Article Text. Label other files correctly (e.g. data, figures). For blind review, remove your name from the text and the file properties.
  4. Contributors: add every co-author (name, email and country required; affiliation and bio optional). Mark the principal contact and drag them into the right order.
  5. For the editors: data availability statement (if asked for), and comments to the editor.
  6. Review and submit: check everything, fix anything with Edit, → Submit. You will get a confirmation email.

Work is saved as you go. Use Save for Later to finish another time. Unfinished submissions appear in your dashboard as Incomplete.

After you submit

Track the status under Submissions in your dashboard. Every message from the editors arrives by email. Emails do not include attachments: log in and open the discussion to download files.

Revisions

  1. Read the decision email and the reviews (also in the submission record).
  2. Prepare the revised manuscript and a point-by-point response.
  3. In the submission → Review → Revisions → Upload File (choose the component; add images or data files if needed).
  4. To explain your changes, open a discussion with the editor in the same place.

Proofs

You'll be invited to a Production Discussion. Check the PDF/HTML galleys and reply with corrections: typos and layout only. This is not the time to rewrite.

ORCID

Connect your ORCID iD in Profile → Public, or with the ORCID button when asked. Co-authors get their own email asking them to authorise their ORCID iD. A typed-in iD is not verified.

OJS user guide for reviewers

You received an email inviting you to review for CJAIM. Use the link in the email, or log in at ojs.srce.hr/cjaim → Submissions → View on the review request.

Two dates matter

  • Response due: accept or decline by this date.
  • Review due: submit your review by this date.

Can't make it? Decline early, or ask the editor for more time before the date passes.

The four steps

Step 1: Request

Read the title, abstract and schedule. Declare any competing interests, or state there are none. Accept the privacy statement → Accept Review (or Decline Review Request).

Step 2: Guidelines

Read the journal's reviewer guidelines → Continue to Step 3.

Step 3: Download & Review

  1. Download the manuscript under Review Files.

  2. Fill in the review form if there is one, and/or the two comment boxes:

    • For author and editor: the author will see this. Do not put your name or affiliation in it.
    • For editor only: confidential.
  3. Optional: upload an annotated file. Remove your name from the file properties and tracked changes first.

  4. Choose a recommendation:

    Recommendation Means
    Accept Submission publish as is
Revisions Required minor changes; the editor checks them
Resubmit for Review major changes; needs a new review round
Resubmit Elsewhere not a fit for this journal
    Decline Submission not publishable
See Comments no single recommendation; read my comments
  5. Submit Review → confirm. You cannot edit it afterwards.

Step 4: Completion

A thank-you page appears. The editor makes the decision and may email you the outcome.

Tips

  • Write comments the author can act on: what to change, and why.
  • Reminder emails come only after a due date has passed, so put the dates in your calendar.
  • If you were sent a review link, it may log you in directly, without a password.
